BICA Residency Program
Overview
The BICA Residency Program is designed to foster artistic innovation and cultural exchange in the vibrant border community of Calexico. Each year, we welcome three talented artists to immerse themselves in a four-month residency, providing them with the time, space, and resources to create and exhibit their work.

Program Phases
Art Creation Phase (2 Months)
Artists spend the first two months creating their projects, with an initial orientation week to familiarize themselves with the space, local culture, and resources. They receive ongoing support from program coordinators throughout this period.
Exhibition Phase (1 Month)
The third month is dedicated to preparing and showcasing the artists’ works. The exhibition opens to the public, featuring events such as artist talks, workshops, and guided tours to engage the community.
Resetting Space Phase (1 Month)
In the final month, the exhibition is deinstalled, and the space is reset for the next residency. This includes cleaning, maintenance, and any necessary repairs or adjustments.
